Titanic Hotel Belfast
We provided PR, video production and event management services for the launch of the iconic Titanic Hotel Belfast.
This included managing media relations, creating and running launch events, and ongoing consumer PR.
Widespread, positive media coverage was achived across the UK and Ireland, as well as internationally.
We also created video content for the hotel's social channels and for distribution to the media.
In June 2017, JComms was appointed by Harcourt Developments to launch of its latest hotel, which just happened to be the most anticipated build in Belfast and taking the place of one of the city’s much-loved tourist spaces. Our plans incorporated strategic consumer and corporate media relations, digital content, video production, influencer engagement and event management.
The Titanic Hotel Belfast, due to open its doors for business on 10 September, would be residing in the former Harland & Wolff Headquarters on Queen’s Road, right in the heart of the Titanic Quarter.
With history and heritage on our shoulders, we ventured in with the obligatory hard hat tour for local business journalists kicking off our media comms. This was their first glimpse of what was the famous Drawing Offices, completely revitalised thanks to a £5m Heritage Lottery Fund grant, secured by the Titanic Foundation.
Alongside media relations, our content team worked together to create an exclusive progress video which would give the public their first look at how the hotel was coming along. UTV and BBC Newsline also rolled out content rich features with key spokespeople giving viewers even more information about the hotel.
Overnight, the world knew about Titanic Hotel Belfast, the progress developers were making, and that it was on track for opening 10th September. No pressure! From Sydney to New York, Germany to China, via Belfast of course, we were liaising with travel and lifestyle writers who wanted a first look at Titanic Hotel, all the while prepping for exclusive openings, tracking progress and ensuring all stakeholders got their day in the sun.
The anticipation we promised was delivered; across four nights and days ahead of the official opening, we gave over 500 members of the media, former Harland & Wolff employees, community groups, stakeholders, contractors and VIPs their first look at the completed Titanic Hotel Belfast.
The Hotel was sold out for the opening week, and subsequent weekends. We have welcomed both The Guardian and Daily Telegraph travel writers to glowing reviews, and even managed a story about the price of a scone – we can only imagine it was a very quiet news weekend…
After an intense few months, and an even more intense few days of opening, the team were able to sit back and enjoy a few glasses of fizz in the Drawing Office bar and lounge, and appreciate what an incredible, once in a lifetime experience being part of this project was.
